The Equity Value is the value assigned to each property or land for tax matters, expressing the actual value of a property in a given year. It can be consulted in the Finance Portal and in the Land Registry.
The Equity Value is part of the IMI calculation operation, but it is not its only taxation. It is also used to calculate the Municipal Tax on Real Estate Transmissions (IMT) and the Seal Tax (IS). The IMT is responsible for the transfer of property ownership rights in Portuguese territory. The Seal Tax applies to all consumption acts that are not subject to VAT.
